Livestock

At Down Farm, we buy Angus steer (male) reared calves at about 3-4 months old. These are a by-product from dairy farms. A specialist rearer has taken them from a few days old and bucket fed them on powdered milk substitute.

Down Farm typically keep them for two winters and one  summer, before they go to a specialist finisher.

In the winter they are housed, and in the summer they are at grass.

Down Farm belongs to the Waitrose Aberdeen Angus Scheme, which dictates high welfare standards, non-GM food, etc.
